Pregnancy Related Pelvic Girdle Pain

Physiotherapy is helpful in treating and assisting with ante-natal conditions.  Pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain affects 1 in 5 women and can cause pain and make day to day life more difficulty. Consideration of the pelvic floor muscles and muscles supporting the pelvis are imperative. Physiotherapy plays an important part of helping manage pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain through advice, education and rehabilitation including exercises. Our physiotherapists understand the journey women undertake during their pregnancy and ensure that our assessments are thorough. We are able identify current impairments and treat these to ensure prevention of further deterioration post-natally.

Diastasis Recti

Physiotherapy is helpful in treating and assisting with post-natal conditions.Diastasis recti is the separation of the outermost abdominal muscles which occurs during the third trimester of your pregnancy. These muscles support your back and organs but the connective tissue between these muscles can cause pain and discomfort. Physiotherapy can help reduce this pain and discomfort through rehabilitation of the abdominal muscles, assessing your breathing patterns and considering your pelvic floor muscles. Our physiotherapists are highly specialised in treating diastasis recti to provide you with treatment options to reduce your pain and make day to day life more comfortable.
